    Alrighty,

Can anyone tell me where is the cheapest place in Dublin to buy plasterboard, timber, etc. for the construction of partition walls?

The walls will have two layers of plasterboard to improve sound isolation. I will be buying approx. 200 sheets each of 9.5mm and 12.5mm plasterboard. That is about 130m2 of plasterboard coverage, with two layers.

Also, can anyone give me a rough estimate of how much timber I will need for this amount of stud walling? I'm trying to cost the project in advance.

    Many thanks,

    All the best,

    Richie.

Have you considered using a metal stud partition?

Make a list of materials you need and go around and price them at different hardwares until you find the cheapest.

Timber offers noting extra compared to metal stud. Infact you will get metal stud up four times faster than timber studs. Metal studs are completly straight and contain no bows like timber.

Also the cost of metal stud is a lot less than timber stud. Infact I think its a 1/3 the cost of timber and is fireproof as well compared to timber.
