Swimming pool questions Westwood Clontarf

    Hi, I'm taking my first 1-2-1 swimming lesson next week in Westwood Clontarf and I'm pretty excited about finally taking the plunge (no pun intended). I'm completely ignorant on the subject of swimming pool "etiquette" though, and also what I need or don't need to bring along.

    I know I'm going to need swimming shorts, goggles and a swimming cap (anything else?) but I was wondering about things like:

    - Do you bring a towel with you to the pool area?
    - Do you wear flip-flops around the pool area?

    Like I said, I'm completely ignorant and I'm sorry if some of these questions sound stupid! The only information I got when I booked my lessons is that I should change in the dressing rooms and then walk out at the end of the dressing rooms to reach the pool area and my instructor. Apart from that I have no idea how to approach the swimming pool for the first time so any help would be appreciated.

    You can leave your towel and shower gear in a locker but there are hooks to hang up your towel at the poolside too. It’s probably easier to have your shower stuff with you so that you can shower straight after getting out of the pool rather than having to retrieve it from your locker soaking wet.

    Bring flip flops. Just leave them at the edge of the pool where you get in.
    I’d also bring a bottle of water and leave that at edge of the pool too.

    Just on top of this, is it possible to go in for a swim as a one off without being a member??

    You need to be a member to swim there unless you have a guest pass. If you know anyone who is a member they should be able to get you a guest pass. Otherwise you can fill out a form on their website and they should send you one.
