As it is a Bank Holiday weekend I thought some of you might be interested in taking a trip to East Clare.

The 10th Scariff Harbour Festival begins today and runs until August 5th. There are lots of really great events planned. :)

Here is just a small sample of the events on offer:
    • Harbour Funtime - activities and entertainment for the whole family (Comedy, Youth Graffiti Wall, Face Painting and BBQ)
    • Moonlight Walk - Explore the woods at night with an expert guide
    • Waterways Ireland Building Open Day (Saturday)
    • All Star Rugby Training for 8 - 15 years with Trevor Ringland
    • Street Arts & Crafts Fair
    • Traditional Skills Workshop - (C.E.L.T.)
    • Community Garden Fair
    • Horse & Wagon Tours - See Scariff in a wagon pulled by two Clydesdales.
    • Cooking from the garden - food demonstrations using organic local produce
    • Edna O'Brien Lecture Series with Carlo Gébler
    • Mime/Theatre Workshop
    • Children's Art Competitions
    • Busking Competition
    • Waterways Ireland Boat Tours
    • Scenic walk in association with East Clare Way
    • Music from Jack L, The Walls, Sean Keane and lots more.
The aim of the festival is to promote the leisure and pleasure potential of Lough Derg, the inland waterways and the East Clare countryside both among local people and visitors from further afield.

Drove up by Scariff yesterday and it looked like a decent enough turn out.

I'll have to come up next year with a big bag of cans and minus the car.
