English Textbooks

I have been living in Thailand for the past few years happily working away as an English teacher.

My girlfriend is pregnant at the moment and our plan is to eventually go back to Ireland to settle down with the two kids. My stepson is currently in third class in Thailand. He speaks and reads English well but I think he will need some serious work on expanding his vocabulary and improving his writing in the next year or two.

I was wondering if someone could point me towards what English textbooks are second and third class students studying in Ireland. I would like to spend an hour with him in the evenings to just help him push on that extra level before he eventually emigrates to Ireland. I already teach him during the day at school but it is all TEFL stuff so it's just not difficult enough for him.

I would really appreciate any help.

At lot of schools use Folens "Reading Zone", CJ Fallon's "A Way With Words" or the "Sunny Street" programme by Gateways. These would be the most common ones that I've come across, they're very child and teacher-friendly too :)
