I am interested in changing my road bike as would be planning on doing bit more racing into next year .Would be thinking of spending about 2000 euros max and upgrading to carbon .At the moment I am on a KHS flite road bike with carbon forks and seat post and this was my first road bike and have no real complaints with it and would like to hold onto it as spare bike for winter etc .Just wondering what would the best time to go looking in order to get good value etc and what would be the best brand to look out for ,some lsda say Trek, more say Giant and more say KTM so kindas confused by it all .I would appreciate lads view on this from experience .Also would prefer to buy from retailer in Limerick /Clare/Galway area.Al lopionis greatly appreciated

I was in a similar situation a few weeks ago, looking to upgrade the bike and was looking for carbon and 105 groupset. Didn't know what i should get, trawled the net and lbs's and narrowed it down to trek 4.5, cube gtc race (fairly difficult to find!), felt z95 (think that was the model) and boardman team carbon. All were coming in at 1800-2000, except the boardman which was 1250. Ended up with the boardman, really happy with the choice so far (but would have been happy with any I reckon). Cube & felt are buy far the best looking bikes btw.

felt z95 is an aluminum frame bike with carbon fork, and a tiagra/microshifter combo. definitely not the model you;re thinking of i'd say.

I bought a planet x rt 57 for 1750 which are now listed nearer 2 k with SRAM force but you can get an rt 57 with SRAM rival for 1750 now in athlone.
Great bike, very comfortable and smooth on Irish chippings.
It came with mavic askiums which have being great even though I'm over 105 kg.
However any time i'm in a bicycle shop for odds and ends it seems to me that you would need to spend Well north of 3 k to get a bike as light as the RT 57 ,when compared to to felt cube specialised or leading brands , I don't think it's my imagination.

I am looking at similar. I currently have a 6yr old trek with 105 on it and would like to move to carbon with 105/ultegra or equivalent SRAM.

I have found the CUBE GTC Pro for 1800 or FELT F5, FOCUS Cayo, Bianchi Vertigo, Lapierre Sensium 700 for around 2k all from LBS in galway.

What things should I pick out as most important to rank them on? All are carbon frames. For wheels some have Shimano R500, some have DT swiss.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

I seen those and they look good as do the Planet X bikes. However, I will trade the old bike and use bike 2 work scheme hopefully so I need to buy from a shop.
