does anyone know where I can find a price guide for Imperial German and Third Reich militaria?

I have just bought a Silesian Eagle second class, awarded to members of the Freikorps for three months service. I paid 135 euro for it. After making the order I did a little research and found that in 2009 its estimated value was 100 euro. I know certain items increase in price every ear but I somehow feel I was ripped off.

    Hi Fuinseog,

I am not sure if you have heard of this author Detlev Niemann but he has several volumes of books that are released with upgraded prices every couple of years.

It covers the periods that you are interested in. The book is called "Price Guide Germany 1871 - 1945". I am not sure if there is a more recent edition past 2009 but a quick search on the net should help you there.

I do not really put much store in those price guide books myself because after all something is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

I think what ever something was worth is 2009 is pretty much the same as what it is worth now and if you paid an extra €35 for something and you are happy with it then I do not see the problem.

    I hope this helps. :)

I usually go on to wehrmacht-awards.com or germancombatawards.com and either look for something similar in the for sale section or ask on one of the forums dealing with the particular area I am enquiring about. There is a Freikorps section on WA, the guys on there would know the value if anyone would.
