    So here's what i'm thinking.

The masai drink cows blood, from live animals, to valuable to kill the animal just bleed it a bit.

So its teotwawki, abnd food is scarce, so what about a bit of blood donation from cows or pigs, make it into a bit of tasty pudding, and go back to weeks later for some more?

This link gives an idea of how much blood you could take and recovery times.

and here's a recipe for black pudding without casings, which as they are intestines you only get if you butcher. it might need some adaptation in the circumstances, but most of the ingredients could be homegrown.

Sounds delicious? Or have I too much time on my hands?:o

The Irish did similar during the potato famine.
They took blood from the animals and fried it .

It makes one think if similar could happen again here with global warming and droughts destroying arable land and the world population increasing that Ireland could be taken over again by an occupying force and used for food production .

Interesting link before what the Irish eat during the famine.

I remembering reading somewhere they'd mix the blood with some oatmeal or whatever they could find and fry that.

Yes, blood clots in your stomach are no fun at all. It needs mixing and cooking, I often wondered what they used for oil though. Butter?

As far as i know blood is mixed with butter and milk.
I guess if no butter maybe used lard(pig fat) or other animal fat.

Or maybe threw into some sort stew with any scraps they could find.

If mixed and cooked with barley and oatmeal ,fat and pepper and salt you'd get black pudding.
