Looking to buy iPhone

    Hi,

I'm looking into buying an iPhone, as a technophobe and owner of banged up Nokia, I am fairly naive on the subject. Regards networks, which is the best between o2 and Vodafone, (the 3 network seems to get bad reviews everywhere.) Also, I'm going to be moving to Vancouver in few months. Would it be better to stick with dodgy phone, or get one now? I'm guessing it would work over there as well.

    Cheers!

Why are you looking to buy a phone on contract if you're moving to Vancouver?

I need a new phone, and they are amazing apparently, and buying one for 600/700 euro is a bit much right now.

Really? I've heard it's still pretty expensive

Well the way to look at it is are you happy to fork out anywhere between five hundred to seven hundred on a non contract phone. Go for it! or check online how much one would be over there.

Entering into a minimum 18 month contract when you know you'll be moving abroad in a few months is a very silly thing to do.

The phone will be locked which means only the Irish sim will work in it, and you'll be paying roaming charges. It's false economy.

    Buy one over there.

Buy a new or relatively new unlocked iPhone from adverts, it'll cost half what it does in the shop

But none of that makes sense if you're moving to a foreign country. Why would you sign up for a contract here if you're leaving? Buy it in Canada either outright or get a contract there, once established.

Not very techsavvy either. If I buy a second hand iphone from ebay from the uk can it work here? some of them say they are unlocked but Ive no idea if that means unlocked to all uk networks or unlocked to any network worldwide
