Reverse around a corner (churchtown)

In doing my test in churchtown tomorrow and have been practicing there the last few nights.

Ive noticed a lot of instructors showing students the reverse coming off carrickmount drive on to meadow view (53.288917,-6.263925)

This is a funny one as you are coming down a hill.

    My question is

    a) has anyone actually done this corner in a test in churchtown,

    b) what is the proper execution in regards to clutching and braking

When I practiced it, I let off the handbrake, and let out the clutch a little, not as far as biting point, i then controlled the free wheel with foot brake until rounding the corner and I needed some power, at which point i brought up the clutch fully..

    Any insights?

Have seen tests being carried out there, and have had plenty of my students do their reverse manoeuvre there.

Don't be afraid to engage the clutch just at the bite. You'll have a little more control over the movement of the car.

    Good luck:D

The funny thing is, if a Garda seen you reverse around a corner , you would probably be prosecuted for careless driving. ....and surely it is deemed to be dangerous...

I did mine there actually. A few years ago now, but it was there none the less

This isn't the place to discuss whether you think something is legal or not. Start your own thread if you want.

I did 3 reverses in a pre-test at Churchtown recently...one was the very tight one by Trinity Halls in Milltown, the second was the down hill one mentioned here at Carrickmount drive and I can't think of where the third one was. It was in an estate going up a hill and pretty difficult, I'd like to go back and practice. Anyone familiar with it?
