I was looking around for a space society last year but couldn't find one, does something like it exist? The Mars landing on Monday is what reminded me haha

The physics society would be the closest thing. There wouldn't really be need for a seperate society as physics and astronomy would overlap too much.

Join the Physoc, we plan to have some stargazing nights this year, and we've gone to places such as ESA, CERN and Birr observatory in the past. We also had a great talk on the life of a stellar astrophysicist from Dr. Graham Harper last year, to name but a few events.

I agree join the physoc. Also astronomy Ireland give talks in the Schrodinger lecture theatre every month or so during the year.

Off topic... Xphex you've been a member of boards.ie for a year yet this is your first post and still for some reason your name seems very familiar.

    Hmm, Minecraft maybe?

Also, to add to the topic, we recently changed our name to the physics & astrophysics society (I think) so come and look for our stall in freshers week to anyone who is interested in joining!

My bad - that change didn't go through. Changed from physical society to physics society.
