My Macbook Air laptop was was recently water damaged. I took it to a shop where they said it was a write off but the hard drive was un damaged. I asked them to transfer the files from the hard drive to a normal external hard drive. They said that they did not have the right equipment to do such a transfer so charged me 40euro to take out the hard drive and gave me details to go to shop which had the right equipment.

I went to this shop and they said they would look at it and come back to me in a few days. They charged me 50euro just to look at it.

A few days later they called to tell me that they could transfer the data but it would cost 650euro. I felt like punching them down the phone. Its just a few holiday snaps and some work stuff. Less than 20gigs.

I have told them not to proceed.

Does anybody know where I could get this done at a reasonable price.

I had to get the exact same thing done for a Dell in spain last year and it cost me 60euro. How can these bandits expect to charge tens time that amount?

    MD
