Saorview with VCR

    Hi everyone,

My first posting here so please bear with me if this has come up before. I have a saorview tv, plus a saorview box with a USB port. My plan was to use the box with a USB stick to record programs , say on tv3 , while looking at say rte1 on the tv. I cannot record one program on the tv and at the same time look at another program on the tv.

This doesn't work well however. It seems to record ok, but playback is terrible. It might work for a few minutes, but then freezes. It might or might not come back for a while, then freezes again.

Is there any way that I could integrate my VCR into the system such that I can record from the saorview box to a tape on the VCR and then playback. The VCR is a few years old and cannot receive saorview signals.

    Thanks

Try using a powered HDD connected to the USB port ...... or even a faster USB stick

You should be able to connect the Saorview STB to the VCR via a scart cable. Connect it to the "VCR" scart output on the Saorview box, and to the AV scart input on the VCR and Bob's your uncle as they say, or should be!

Thanks for the reply. I think now I would be better waiting to see what saorview compatible recorders might come out in the future. As far as I know, the saorview box I have and also the USB stick are USB 2 types so as fast as it gets for me.

USB sticks vary in capability ...... some are slower to write to than others, which might be the cause of your problem.
