just asking for a friend who has an xperia ray ST18i with a broken screen,

she can get a new screen for around 75 beans and is wondering if its difficult to fix the screen yourself...

The other option is go for the newer version (which i think is the Sony Experia U)for 200 euros. which would be the better option do people think?

Or alternatively would anyone be able to recommend a phone for the same price that might be better?

    Thanks

Hi, is your friend still covered by your 1 year warranty? It depends if the screen was broken by your friend or a fault for the warranty to be of use though.

The Ray vs. the U is a good comparison. The Ray I believe has many high quality details and premium features (the screen quality was way ahead of it's time and still knocks out a lot of phone screens under €300 from what I can see, check out PPI if you're interested). On the other hand, the U will have a better battery, will be updated more often if that's of interest (very important in my book) and is very stylish, with large internal storage memory but does NOT use SD cards that most phones do.
