Brush question

I have two brushes; one is a beautiful soft silvertip that my girlfriend bought me, the other is a short and fairly stiff badger brush which I bought years ago when I was starting out.

With a cream like Proraso Sandalwood (great stuff by the way) or Taylor's, the silvertip gives a perfect lather. But with a soap like Mitchell's or the Proraso in a bowl, it doesn't work as well. It takes a long time to work up a lather and even then it feels a bit thin. The little stiff brush seems to be better with the soaps. Am I imagining this or has anyone else experimented with this stuff?

One little tip to try with the soap is to pinch or hold the bristles at the base while swirling. Make sure the brush is well soaked in hot water for a minute beforehand. Let me know if that helps you, my brush is only a Pure Badger but it is pretty soft and I've been using mostle Muhle soap so far with good success.

Nothing unusual in your findings Michael G, plenty of people prefer boar with soaps and badger with creams.
I tend to use boar brushes with soaps. I tend to soak the soap (fill the soap dish with hot water for a minute or so)
    before lathering.
