    If you want to carry stuff just for commuting and it fits in a backpack, then a Carradice SQR Tour http://www.carradice.co.uk/products/type/sqrtour which has a 16 litre capacity would do the trick. It clips on to a fitting on the seat post which leaves the bike free of clutter when not in use. The saddlebag that feck sake lads is recommending is also on the same site.
