Looking to get an extra sky box put in to another room in the house and I was quoted a price of €200!

Surely to God there has to be a cheaper way of going about this? I was also quoted at €15 extra a month for the box even though I'm currently paying €10 for one extra box that I already have?

Anybody got an extra box in for cheaper or any alternatives I can do?

    Total rip off!

Who quoted the€200 - Sky or a private installer?

What sort of book are you referring to?

Apologies, I meant box not book! It was a long day and it was late when I typed that up last night.

In anyway, is there a cheaper way of getting a 3rd BOX into the house then the prices I was quoted?

    Thanks :)

I don't think you have any choice on the €15 a month for the extra box. That is what Sky charge. But who quoted you 200 for the extra box?

How come I only pay €10 a month on the extra box? The sky shop where I originally signed up quoted me the €200!

Seen as I didn't have to pay that for the original set up I find it hard to believe I'd have to pay that much for simply putting another box in?

I reckon the op rang Sky & ordered a second Sky+ box.

These are heavily subsidised by Sky hence the first one being free, however if you order a second Sky+ box then they charge you a hefty fee for it.

The €15 a month extra is correct as you pay per room, the €10 extra the op is paying is more than likely a special offer which Sky do for those taking multiroom as a new customer.

Best to order a standard (non recording) HD box from them @ €69 or if you want a + box then check out adverts.ie for a cheap one & install yourself then order a card for it from Sky.

I think it's €69 for a standard box and €100 set up fee as op already has multiroom?

Sky were offering multi-room for €15 regardless of the number of boxes. Basically the €15 covered the house and while you would get the first muti-room box subsidised you would have to pay the full whack for additional boxes or buy your own. Im wondering now if they have stopped this offer.

That was a 1 year introductory offer afaik.

if your up for a bit of DIY buy a box on ebay/adverts and install yourself. Just need some cabling and maybe a lnb with more ports.

Then ring sky and ask for another viewing card. Will be paying €15 a month for another room but if your out of contract say your leaving and you should get a discount.

    Thanks for the reply.

I just ask for a standard box. So the extra €15 a week is right?

So another standard box is €69 and €130 to install?

Maybe a typo but it's €15 a month. €130 for install is a bit ott to say the least. The €69 for the box is right, you will probably get a better deal by going to an independent Sky retailer or one of the kiosks that are around (usually in Tesco)

    From SkyIreland:
Sky HD Multiroom Box: [Only available with multiroom subscriptions]. Sky HD Multiroom Box is the SkyHD standard Digibox (No PVR functionality) which along with a Sky TV and Sky Multiroom subscription (€15 extra a month) gives your Sky TV subscription in another room. First box free for new and existing customers when taken with a new Sky Multiroom subscription and paying for set-up. Limited to one free box per household (and not available to customers who have already received a free standard box) otherwise €69. Replacement boxes are €99. Set-up is included as part of the box installation for new Sky TV customers, and €100 for existing customers. Non-standard set-up may cost extra.

Sky are charging €100 install if you already have multiroom,as I said-contact an independent & see if they can do better or try a diy install.

    Its €15 per month :)

If you are out of contract you should ring and ask them for an offer and say you will cancel and go to upc if they dont give you some sort of discount. Worth a shot.
