We are looking to go on holidays with some friends with kids this year for the first time. We all have a toddler and baby so would like to get a place where we can share some social space when the kids are asleep but have separate living/cooking areas.  In hotels and apartments we are usually stuck in the room or on the balcony. So this time we were thinking of chalets, mobiles in camping sites or similar where we could we could socialise but still be beside our sleeping kids. Not big into touristy spots, Anyone got any good experiences of similar?

looking for suggestions in the med, south spain, Portugal, italy etc. we are hoping to get somewhere warm this September.

    Thanks in advance!

The south of France would be still warm in Sept also.

There is a huge drop in numbers of people in 'touristy' spots at the start of sept, many camping places off the beaten track close down pretty much in early sept

I'd recommend Argeles sur Mer in the south of France or the north of the costa Brava in Spain, just over the border; or near San Sebastian on the Atlantic coast of Spain

Thanks Carawaystick, any particular spots in north of the costa Brava you would recommend?

Went here with the wife and kids a few years ago and had a lovely holiday . Its a 40 min drive from Barcelona Reus airport in the Costa Dourada region . Keycamp use this location but you can save a load of money by booking direct.
