Hi all just looking for a bit of advice on recording mixes from my 1210s to my laptop..At the moment i have a Numark stereo IO. what i do is run the IO from my mixer into the laptop which isnt a problem at all except i cannot really hear what im mixing. So i got a brainwave and i now run the sound from my laptop through my hi-fi but theproblem is there seems to be a couple of seconds delay. thing is if my cassete part of the hi-fi was working I wouldnt have this problem as i could record and just convert via the IO.

im new to alot of this so i was wondering does anyone else have any ideas please

I would't know a thing about the equipment you're using 'cos I don't DJ but I record my live electronic performances using a line out and into an Edirol R-09HR recorder. No delay and the quality is great.

Likely of little help but you never know.

If I'm not mistaken, the 1210's don't have an amplified output, so the level may be too low to start with. Your best off taking the Main output from the main mixer, and recording this. I cannot stress how much easier a stand alone recorder is like the iKey or M-Audio variants. A great investment as you can always use it elsewhere.

Does your mixer have a booth out? You could use that to connect to the laptop and have the main out connected to your hi-fi. Is the delay you refer to in the recording or when you are actually mixing?
EDIT: Alternatively could you connect your headphone socket on your laptop to your hi-fi so you could hear what you're mixing.

Its a fairly bog standard 2 channel mixer does not have alot to it.

Thats actually what i do I run it from the head phone socket through the hi-fi. if i didnt i would have to use the speakers from the laptop to mix off

Its hard to explain im only new to this but when i try:eek: to match the beats I kinda switch the channels in my headphones to have a listen to both of the song
But i have noticed that the sound coming out of the headphones is always about 3 seconds ahead of the sound coming out of the hi-fi.

    The fast track should work.
    No reason why it shouldn't.
Plug RCA cables from your mixer to the fast track input(think its the guitar symbol for instrument), plug your monitors/hifi/speakers into the output of your fasttrack.
Connect your USB to your laptop and set it up.
Make sure you press the direct latency button or your will have the same problem, this runs your output(speakers) straight through your fast track and bypasses your laptop.
What recording software are you using?

It could be a latency issue.
Try and set it lower and see if it improves.
