    van pulls out of a side road right in front of me today
    I swerved into the oncoming lane.I'd have been 'toast' if there was a car coming.

    Yeah it happens, I had a particularly bad day yesterday:

    - Car full of skobes on the N81 tried to brush past me, honking on the horn. Morons pulled into topaz so I got a photo of the car.
    - Little old lady nearly did the same, minus the beeping and not intentional. Probably shouldn't be on the roads.
    - Chased by Alsation that managed to break through chicken wire fence. BIG dog.
    - Nearly milled by moron at the bottom of red lane. She waited until I was level with her then turned right on top of me. Gave her the finger (I know, I know) so she slammed on her brakes, got out and said "I'm a cyclist too. I saw you coming and said "grand he's seen me" and pulled out". After trying to say that was rubbish, she shouldn't assume and should have either gone earlier or waited, she got back into the car and said I was giving "the rest of ye a bad name".

    There were a lot of them out too. Plus then I got caught on the newly "loose chipped" surface coming down from Ballysmuttan, not a pleasant descent at all when your wheels are threatening to slide out from under you!

    Thread closed: Glad you got to vent, doesn't sound like a pleasant day on the bike but I don't think this thread is going anywhere.
