There's a company called HCL advertising temporary jobs at their call centre in Marlborough Street. It's answering calls for Eircom. Does anyone have experience of dealing with this company?

Do Eircom actually answer calls? I waited 1.5 hours on the line last week to them. Then gave up. Worst customer service ever. Wouldn't touch that if I was you. They could learn a few things from Amazon.com

I worked for a company called Capita who did a lot of call cenre type work for eircom .
Awful crowd to work for who invariably lied through their teeth to their staff - dunno if HCL are anything to do with them , if they are then you have my sympathies.

I worked for Capita too, I lasted a month. :) God I hated every minute of it

I would rather clean toilets all day long than ever work in a call centre again. Utterly soul destroying.

A few years ago I went for an interview there. They offered me the job on the spot, but after walking through the office where I would be working, I politely declined.

In a nutshell: You would be sitting at a round table with about another 8 people on it (so you don't have your own cubicle or anything like that) with an autodialler constantly calling customers (or potential customers) where you try to sell them stuff.

Seemed like a bit of a sweatshop. But if you are looking for your first sales job it'd probably be good experience.
