sky remote not linking to sky box

Seems like my sky box has lost it's ability to receive remote signal! got a new control and tried the usual recommendations like making sure the sky button is pressed etc. Is there any way of knowing or testing if the sky box has broken sensors? or is there any other way of linking the control back up to the sky box!!…
