Can someone explain SKYGO to me, I heard its possible to download the sky app and once you are a sky supscriber you can then watch sky through your iphone in another location, is this true? So basically I could watch my parents sky who are in cork and watch it in waterford for free if I wanted to

Yes that's true. You can register two devices - a PC, say, and an iPhone - not sure it breaches the Sky T&Cs, but it can be done.

AFAIK Sky Go allows you watch your sky subscription on a PC and mobile device, you just need to register their card/subscription details and login on your device, I did this myself using my parents details :)

Be aware that the full range of Sky channels are not available via Sky Go.

    Depends on the phone!

What I do is run Sky Go via the xBox. You need a Live account though....
You could just run the Sky Go through a PC, using your TV as a monitor.

Oh dear god. That's the equivalent of cleaning a bathroom with a toothbrush. It may work, but it's not the right way to do it.

    its a iphone 4s

I know it's blocked from iPhone to AppleTV anyway.

Sky has blocked the use of HDMI output on many, if not all, Android phones and quite sure it is blocked on iPhones too. You could always just connect you computer to your TV though.

Does anyone know if you sign up for Sky Go will you be tied into another 12 month contract with sky. I have looked through the terms and conditions on their website but can't see any reference to the contract. However I have learned from bitter experience with a mobile phone company that just because they don't tell you you are committing to a 12 month contract doesn't mean you aren't.

If I don't have to commit to 12 months then I will sign up to sky go. But if it does tie me into a new contract I'll hold off as with the economy the way it is I would prefer not to be tied into too many monthly payments in case I lose my job.

It doesn't breach the terms and conditions to register two devices, but does breach them if you are giving your Sky.com username and password to someone who is not a Sky subscriber. So beware. As usual, discussion of how to breach Sky T&Cs is not allowed here.

It's free to sky customers - you just have to register online to activate it.

    sky go desktop is excellent

I downloaded some films to the desktop legally and watched the films offline in the evening in munich last weekend
    sky go is very good

i'm trying to sign up to skygo but its saying the details are incorrect. i think its down to the telephone number being wrong as i am certain the viewing card number is correct. (i took the number from the settings section on the tv)
is there any way to check the phone number. the bill is paid by direct debit so we do not get paper bills so i can't check a bill.
    thanks

If you are looking to know your home landline number then call your mobile phone and the number will appear as caller ID.

Does sky go desktop work for live events or is it to download content that has already been broadcast. I downloaded sky go desktop and clicked on the sky go website, logged in and went to the tv guide and when I click on a show there is no button to download. How do you download a show. If you can set the download for a show like a pvr it would be an excellent app but I don't see it at the moment.

Is the on demand bit of sky go free to sky customers too?

Just started using sky go... seems much too good to be true (ie free to sky customers)

    Hi,

Are ITV programmes on SkyGo only available to British customers?

I have tried a few of them and get a message that I "appear to be outside the territory in which this channel or programme is available".

Also, does the two device limit mean two devices at the same time?

Can you switch as devices as you want, like laptop/phone logout of laptop and use iPad, use laptop again a few days later?

    Cheers

Unable to download ITV content from the republic. You can have two registered devices at any one time but need to wait 31 calendar days before you can make a change - ie remove a device then wait a calendar month before you register another device
