Not sure if this should be best posted in the Galway forum or not..

Just wondering if anyone knows where I could get a good new bike lock in Galway. I need one as soon as possible. Ideally one of the U shaped locks either new or second hand. I'm not sure where to look for them..

Kearney cycles on the headford road or halfords.

    Options would be:
    Nigel's Cycle Store
    Kearney Cycles
    Richard Walsh Cycles
    MBW Bike Shop
    Argos
    Halfords

All of the above should have a good selection of locks at varying prices.
If you don't need it immediately, then you might get better value by buying it online.

Thanks for those links dastardly00, very helpful!

Decided on this one I think: http://www.argos.ie/static/Product/partNumber/3335662/Trail/searchtext%3EBIKE+LOCK.htm

I know its not invincible by any means, but I don't think bike theft is too prevalent in Galway as long as you have the bike in a good position/area with a somewhat decent lock (ie not those flimsy cable/string ones!)

Thanks again, unless anyone has any other suggestions..?? :)

That lock doesn't look very good. Better off getting at least the grey Kryptonite U-lock. Worth the wait if it means you'll still have a bike in a week:D

buying online isnt always great, as the shipping for heavy locks can add up.

go for kryptonite or abus, that argos one would pop in about 10 seconds by the looks of it.

A lot of online retailers have free shipping to Ireland, eg. this Kryptonite KryptoLok is on CRC for €34.58 with free shipping (it may be cheaper elsewhere).

This one comes to about €32 with a cable included. http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B005YPK8G2/ref=mp_s_a_4?qid=1343743773&sr=8-4
