Thats the one, wouldn't pay those prices though. In my experience the ones in the 2 euro shops work as well.

Ridiculous prices there. As said above, go to the 2 euro shop. If you can't find one with enough length there I would point you to amazon or similar.

Just a word of warning - for a laptop connection you will probably be plugging and unplugging the cable lots of times so you don't want to go too cheap as the connectors on the really cheap cables can fall off. Also bear in mind that you may need a longer (than the standard 1.5m) cable if you want to be able to manage the laptop from the coffee table while it's plugged into the TV.

In your case I would buy the 3m cable on that website for 19.99 but you'll probably have to pay P&P so a better option might be to drop into a Tesco home shop and see what they have, I bought a 3m cable there for my laptop for about €20.

I can't see the link you posted so I'm gonna just post this. If it's worng you can search the site for the right one, and only €1.99 delivery.

    Bargain at €7.07 + €1.99 delivery.

I've no big hangup about this but when you add the cost of a widescreen TV and a laptop together and get the guts of €800-1,000 - do you really want to be scrambling around various websites and shops just to save a tenner on a bloody cable to connect them together?

I always found it most inconvenient to hook up my laptop to the TV.... always had to change the power plan so I can close the lid without hibernating the laptop. Went with a WD TV Live box (85 yoyos) which does it all, incl. Youtube. Great little gadget.

It's usually best to switch to 'external only' only when sending a signal to the TV. If you have an image on the laptop and the TV at the same time, you will usually not get the best fit on the TV because most graphics cards aren't good at handling two different screen resolutions. I assume you wanted to close the lid so that you couldn't see the laptop screen image.

    +1
Got one too and so handy.. can stream from my PC/Wireless Stereo/Laptop and have a HDD x 2 connected.

One thing I've not tried and that's a HDD connected directly to the USB on the router. Have you tried Torqay?
