Refused grant, should I appeal?

I just got word that I was refused a grant because my income levels from 2011 were too high.

I put in a change of circumstances in my application because I will no longer be in employment from September on but the grant office said this wasn't enough. Apparently it's too late in the year to have a change and she said it would be considered a change for 2013.

Has anyone been in a situation like this? I have absolutely no means of paying for my reg fees and feel a bit lost at this stage.

You have nothing to lose by appealing so I would say yes

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

I would appeal. As far as I know a negative change in circumstances can be taken into account straight away at any point in the year. If you are awarded a grant it will be from the point in the year the change happened. You may receive the grant/fees on a pro rata basis.

That is quite harsh to say that the change will be happening too late in the year to be taken into account and will only apply next year. The grant will really make a difference to a household who has had a negative change.

I got refused for the same reasons, but according to this pdf I should get 100% Standard Rate or 100% Tuition Fees...

Or am I reading the pdf wrong
