I'm looking to try and find out what % of companies in Ireland offer the statutory minimum holidays. I have had a look at some of the government websites, but have found nothing.

I have a feeling that it is either an unknown or unpublished figure, but if anyone knows can you let me know please ?

Its statutory - basically its a statute of law and MUST be offered.

Its also generous from an internation perspective, so I would guess most companies offer just stutory and nothing extra.

    Full time staff
1.666 days per month worked or pro rata

Part time staff subject to some terms
    8% of hours worked.

I think OP means what % of employers offer ONLY statutory?

I believe the majority give statutory only (20 days), but may well allow this to increase with service years. From looking at jobs advertised the majority seem to be just statutory, with maybe 1 or 2 extra days.

In my personal experience, I have worked for one company that gave 22 days, one gave 24 days, another 26, and my current 21 (but with an extra 6 paid days where the office is closed at Christmas). My partner has previously worked for a company who gives 25 days, and his current company give 21 plus Good Friday and the last working day before christmas.

I remember when I was getting 26 days and my partner 25, anyone that I mentioned this to was quite surprised to hear it.

I know of some companies who, rather than cut pay or jobs, reduced AL to statutory and did away with paid sick leave in order to save on the wages bills.

So as you say, I don't think there are many statistics on this, but I would think most give only statutory. It would be really useful to have this information for benchmarking purposes, so its a shame its not available.

Little Ted - Great reply - That's exactly what I meant.

I think I will have a flick through the job website for my sector. Thanks

It would be a meaningless statistic even if it were calculated.

Why - well imagine the MNC that gives its line workers (product builders etc) the statutory minimum, and its head-office types (IT, accountants, engineers) more. How would you count it?

I would expect when providing statistics the company would be requested to specify what types of workers get what - so manual labourers distinguished from office based management. It could be compiled in much the same way as salary structures are compiled.

I don't think it would be a meaningless statistic. For me it would be useful as in my company we are expected to benchmark our conditions of service against other likeminded companies. At the moment, the only way to do this is to contact a selection and ask for their cooperation by providing this info. Some do, some don't. If there was a method of recording this kind of information, it would be my first point of contact when reviewing conditions.

What would be more interesting is how many CS/PS get more than the statutory minimum ?
