Looks like DM has been left off the Garmin Team for the Vuelta.

Very dissapointing as the course this year suits him. Also have to wonder what do Garmin want to do with him. Despite a series of great results in one days, short tours and GT he appears that he has to continual 'prove' himself to get run outs or be a supported rider in races.

    An odd decision this.

Did he want to ride the Vuelta?

I'm pretty sure this was never on the agenda for him. Garmin are sending a decent team and I'd expect big things from Talansky.

Wow, Vuelta just got a lot less exciting for me. :(

He's got Navarro, Hernandez and Noval there with him, same group of domestiques he's been using for the last few years.

It will be better than the Tour de France. Though it generally is, so nothing new there.

It might not have been Dan's plan to ride the 2012 Vuelta since he was going to be riding his first TdF.
Or, he's completely burnt out after the TdF since he was sick and on anti-biotics for a week of it.

It is disappointing though that he won't be riding the Vuelta, the route really suits him.

That's a strong looking AG2R team for Roche, wonder will it be one last hurrah - aiming for definitely top 10 but possibility of a podium

I doubt the Vuelta was ever on the agenda after his first tour. Garmin have him pencilled in as a GC contender over the next few years - Vaughters tweeted this after the final TT in the tour a few weeks ago.

Great ride by Dan Martin today. It may not hit many folks' radar, he did a 1:08.42. But just remember this tweet in 2 yrs time.

Sounds like they have a definite plan in mind...
