Where to get six sided staff (rokkaku bo) or 7' - 8' staff?

    Hey lads,

Thought this might be the best place to ask. I am working on a project at the moment and the spear to be accurate required it to be six sided and from what I have found there is a six sided bo staff but just wondering where to find one in Ireland, preferably Dublin? If all comes to all i can plane one down myself but trying to reduce the work load.

Failing that any places that stock a decent quality and size staves? The final product will be approx 7' long. I dont think they make them that size but even a 4' could be threaded together. Ideally the diameter would be between 1.5'' and 2''

    Thanks for any help.

Not sure you could thread two 4 foot staff's together unless you were going to just use it for display

best bet is probably karate club's or clubs that do okinanwan kobudo, doubt any bricks and mortar shop in Ireland will stock them

We practice Yamaneryu bo-jutsu (see this thread http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056694028) and get our ‘bo’s’ from Kwon in Germany, good price and super speed on delivery.

These bo’s are not uniform and are only ‘medium’ sanded, that is there can be bumps etc on them. They are white wood and some what flexible. Ideal for yamaneryu. They come in at 7ft and we cut them down to size to suit the individual user.

    Not much help, sorry.

Also while I'm not sure, but possibly a jujutsu club would use this type of bo before a karate club... but I stand to be corrected.

Thanks for the help and replies everyone.

Thanks for the info on that company aswell Damo, they sound like the best option as it would have to be around 7ft and wouldnt have to be perfect. It is going to be weathered and damaged anyways (its going to be used for a base of a replica so doesnt need to be functional hence being cut and bolted back together)
