Getting to Paris for an October match weekend

    Hi everyone

I'm heading over to Paris for a rugby match on the w/d of 12-14th October. I'm living in Limerick.

The most handy flight, Cork to CDG, is too expensive so I'm thinking I will fly to a London airport and get a transfer to CDG.

Can anyone recommend flights from London to CDG? Or alternatively a direct flight to CDG from Ireland that I've missed? (Been on Ryanair/Aer Lingus)

I can't see any international or provincial matches in Paris that weekend. Cork to CDG might just be expensive now in order to catch people who are prepared to pay the higher fare because they want want to attend a wedding, if you wait until closer to the day the price will probably come down.

Unless there's a major event of Irish interest that w/e in which case you could try BA, Air France etc. ex London. Weekend trips to Paris are popular all year round - anniversaries, wife's birthdays etc. so I wouldn't expect any bargains.

Have you thought flying to London and getting a train to Paris.

There are good deals to be had on Eurostar when booked well in advance.

The match is Racing Metro vs Munster at Stade de France, Sat 13th October.

I'll have to wait closer to the day as I don't have my college timetable yet plus flexibility around missing classes, so it will be september before I book them. Can the flights go down in price?

Sorry, didn't notice that www.irishrugby.ie shows the different competitions in separate lists, the RaboPro12 fixtures come first and didn't have that match. It's unlikely that the price will come down with Munster playing in Paris in their opening HC match.

Have a look at going through the UK, EasyJet for example fly to CDG from Liverpool, Belfast International and Luton

go via London, you'll be able to get cheap fares on eurostar in advance, I've had 1st class for less than 2nd class on it, by booking in advance

get ryanair/EI to London, should be cheaper all round

I'm actually looking at Shannon to Nantes and then getting the TGV to Paris Montparnasse. Comes to €215ish (for 2 people) including the flights, trains and airport shuttles.

Would you not just go Dublin-Paris? Ryanair to Beauvais is €140 or you can mix and match AL out and Ryanair back.

Gives me a few hours in Nantes on the Friday (been there before, very nice city). Plus I'm a 30/40 minute drive from Shannon.

Btw when I said €215 I meant for 2 people, sorry I wasn't clear. So it's cheaper and more accessible for me.
