TV or Monitor

The tv in the bedroom died last nite, so looking to get a replacement around the 26" size. Are there some advantages to a TV over a monitor that I don't get, as monitors from reputable brands some much cheaper. Get a monitor with speakers and HDMI, and I should be good, right?
