    Hi Folks,

    I have a 08 Touran 1.9 TDI.

If possible,I want to be pro-active and not wait until there is a problem to fix.

I got it with 27K miles on the clock.
It had a long life service at 16K miles.
I got a basic VW service, oil change etc at 30K miles.
Now at 37K miles oil light came on and I gave it 1lt of oil, Mobile 5W-30 VW spec.

Could some one please tell me the service intervals, what should be done and when in the cars life.

    Thanks,
    MAJJ

If I were you I would switch over to fixed service intervals. The long life schedule is insufficient in my opinion.

Fixed interval means changing the oil and filter every 10k miles or 12 months, whichever comes first.

Also after running a good few vag 1.9tdis, always check oil (as with any car) regularly, to use a litre or more between services depending on driving is not unusual. If you drive a car til oil light comes on you will do harm.

    Cheers guys for the info.

Andy, yep I thought so too just wanted to make sure I knew the intervals etc, thanks.h

George, thanks for that specific tip, easy to remember! Can that be setup on the car to prompt me?

Yes the interval can be changed from variable to fixed in the instrument cluster so that the service reminder will come on every 10k miles or 12 months.
