Can money be taken back from the sender on Paypal?

If a person sends me money on paypal as, a gift, and the money then arrives in my account - is there any way that the sender could take that money back without my consent? This applies to 'payment owed' , etc.

Also if it is possible, what would happen if I spent the money before they tried to take it back? Would paypal take it from my bank account?

If I recall correctly to what happened to me last year, I sent a payment the recipient had missspell the email address, when he noticed that I went to paypal there was an option to cancel money transfer as recipient hadn't accepted, not sure if the money was sent as gift or goods payment.

Check the status and might be able to see something there, more info on Paypal help on Status

Money sent as a gift can't be taken back .

They cant be used in disputes.

SO when buying goodsnever sendit as a gift.

Allthough it says paypal cant refund it back or do a chargeback, I believe they can in extenuating cirumstances but its rare thats why when sending money there's the option to send money for goods/ services.

Gift items are normally for famly members or those you know.

110% agree with that answer, payments sent as a gift are not covered by Paypals protection policies. Only send gift payments to family and friends.
