Large round bales of Hay

    Qyuery on these things, wherever i seem to drive past a field i see dozens of these large round hay bales there.

    Always wondered, how much do these cost each (Not after buying any, just curiosity)

    It depends...

    Whether you're on the end of the supply line like in Connemara. Whether you can pick them up and load them from the shed/field yourself. Whether the weather was co-operative and produced a glut of good hay, or whether the weather was a bastard and produced a lesser amount of poorer hay.

    I don't buy big rounds so can't give you a specific answer but there are variables.

    Nice one, just curious really, as have no idea, to me they could be worth 50 euro or 500 euro, just one of those things i've always wanted to know

    So if anyone else has an answer......

    usually around €20 per bale, but I have some lovely special stuff available for €500 a bale, willing to deliver for that price too

    bought some for 18e a bale couple months ago,good enough stuff,ive heard on other occasions anything up to 35 paid for it :eek:

    thats more likely to be haylage! horsey men were payin upto 50euro a bale for good haylage at times when it was scarce! itll be like that this year with the lack of it made

    Heard of good round bales that made 40 euro last week in south Roscommon...made fully dry which will be rare this year....Seen as most good round bales have 8/9 square bales in them thats pricey stuff.
