If something seems too good to be true it almost always is.

i wouldn't. hardly a baragin either really, just undesirable. 7 year old calcutta spec high miler mondeo petrol with only 6 months test.

not that the early tdci's were great, but you'd get a diesel one for a couple of hundred more, it'd be much better spec'd, similar tax, better mpg's etc.

If he must sell this weekend then I'd be offering him €800 cash take it or leave it and see what he says.

Something dodge about that. He'd be getting more on a trade in. I got €2700 on a trade in for my 04 Ghia on Friday, and I arrived in the forecourt in a flatbed truck!

These 1.8 mondeos are serious petrol guzzlers, I had one but got rid after few months as you just cant keep petrol in them, yes they are a nice comfortable quiet car to drive but you dont get much MPG in them

Defo would go for a diesel mondeo instead, and with the mondeo you do get a fair bit of car for the price of them compared to others makes similair.

Manuel transmission? Will it be quite useless and blame it on Barcelona?

Dont think they are 130, the TDIC was 130, closer to 125BHP I think.

Nope. It's 130. The Zetec engine is 115.

There were 3x tunes of the 1.8 petrol. A 110, 125 and a 130PS (I dont think the 130PS was available in Ireland) WIKI

Didn't think so either, going by forums I have seen it was mainly mainland. But maybe one made it to Ireland :)

It was, I owned one until Friday. It wasn't available across the range though, only in Ghia and Ghia X spec. It was ordered new to Ireland and delivered to Drive motor Group, registered in January 2004.

But the one posted is definitely a lemon of some sort at that price.

300000 miles on the clock??? good price???? He'd be luckly to get €500 for it.

So if it's mechanically perfect you're saying it is a bargain?

I'd be surprised if the guy doesn't get his money for it. Worth far more than the 500 you suggest, it would break into more than that. The engines from these sell like hot cakes.

160k miles it says in the add, that might be an approximation from 300k kms by a not overly bothered seller.

Why did you not go for it? Were you scared off by the mileage alone or was there something else?

The car has lasted 300k km, which surely is a good sign (of it being maintained)? An '05 Mondeo is not my cup of tea, but if I were in the market for one and my mechanic gave me the green light, at about a grand it is a bargain, no?
