    Hey guys,

I am considering buying a sim holding module for business purposes but its from the US. I am just wondering if the following specification would be compatible with the vodafone network here in Ireland. I am tech competent but know little regarding mobile networks.

    GSM module – 850MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 1900MHz

or it's also put another way..

SIM card that supports the GSM 900M/1800M and GSM 850M/1900M bands

I guess I'm also asking if its enevitable that this device may become defunct in the near future?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    Jim

PS: I only require this unit for voice services. i.e. No data services at all.

Yes, Vodafone supports GSM and 3G. GSM will be around for a while to come, I wouldn't worry about it being replaced any time soon. Virtually all phones that are not smartphones use GSM.

In Europe the GSM networks use 900 and 1800 MHz.
