AN-225 due to 6 engine contrails.
If it was a 747 ferrying 2 engines they would have no contrails.

    Maybe its just the picture

I thought the 747 could only ferry one engine, inboard of No.2 or 3 engine.

    Definitely THE antonov 225 ........
I fixed that reply for you......

Only a single AN-225 in service. There is a 2nd partially built airframe (60-70%)and ongoing attempts to get it finished. Funding seems to be the issue.

Strange sounding jet flew over mayo heading west. Around 32,000 feet thisevening around 7.pm. 4 engine contrails but a real banshee like howl from the engines. I'm thinking c-135 or an-124. Didn't show up on Skyspy. Anyone hear it

To anyone who hasn't seen it, the following documentary on the Antonov 225 is well worth the watch. Would simply love to see it for real. Nice work spotting it in the skies OP!

As said already, it has to be a 225. Engines that are being ferried won't be running, so can't have contrails from them and afaik, they never ferry 2 extra engines.

Also the pic is of a high wing AC, so again, couldn't be a 747.

Thanks, unfortunately i cant take credit for the pic,it was one i got with a HD desktop background pack.
I was 90% shure it was the 225 but 2 friends said it was a 747 or some other VLA. that made me look closer and all i could come up with was the horizontal stabilizer seamed smaller.

I Know the 747 can carry 1 non-functioning fifth-pod engine under the port wing

I could stick up the HD version if anyone wants it ?
