None of the standard definition Sky+ boxes that I've ever seen have had one anyway.

However, I think they give you a Sky+HD box even if you get a standard subscription nowadays. There's no point in them maintaining two different levels of boxes & software. It also means they can upgrade you to HD without an equipment cost.

So, you could have a Sky non-HD subscription and a HD box and thus have HDMI port.

ok, and a follow up question - if i had a sky+hd box but no hd sub, i assume i can still use the hdmi connection without any issues?

Yes, and the FTA HD channels on the EPG in HD without a sub. The crippled Sky SW won't allow adding DVB-S2 channels via "Other Channels".

We use a Sky HD box exclusively on HDMI and have never had any sub for it. We still have our 2nd ordinary Sky box that used to be on sub, in another room.

TBH a Freesat HD PVR is better value unless you really must have Sky Sport.

If you get a sky + hd box directly from Sky, do they supply a hdmi cable with it ?

If not, what's the rough cost of a decent hdmi cable ?
