    Evening all,

Im currently riding a KTM Ultraflite and I am in the market for a chainset/bottom bracket upgrade. Its currently running a Shimano ES25 Ocktalink bottom bracket and Shimano M522 cranks. Im looking to do a full upgrade and I seem drawn to this due to the price and reviews :

Should I stay with the Octalink type setup or go for the Hollowtech type setup. Looking for a good strong setup that will give me more life than I have gotten from my current setup

I'd recommend going for the Hollowtech setup. Much easier to service, setup and replace the bottom bracket. Go for it.

Yes Dr. That's a fine chain set for the money. SLX is fitted to a huge selection of bikes.

The one you have linked to Is fine. The 175mm is on special offer and is a very good price.

Be warned though, you will need one special tool to remove the octalink and another to install the Hollowtech.

    You wouldn't consider the double?

They are all the go these days...

Already got the Octalink remover but i saw the other day that Halfords have the Hollowtech tightening tool. Cheers for the heads up.

I was reading into them alright and also about the single rings. Horses for courses really. I would probably get the gearing right with a double and have the legs to drive them but psychologically I would get freaked out fearing the missing ring would ruin my spin :o
