Hello lads I'm new to this forum, I was watching the archery in the Olympics and it looks class. I'm in Moycullen in galway and searching on line tells me that Galway Archers are my nearest club. My question is, I'm 33 am I going to look like an old codger of a beginner or are there lads my age in the beginner categorie?

    Hi!

Not at all, people of all ages training, improving (hopefully), learning and socialising together.

Give it a shot, you wont regret it...

Hi Bolied-egg, don't worry about your age, beginners come in all ages shapes and sizes. We're hoping to run a beginners course at the end of August, we're a bit tied up with other commitments at the moment. Look up Galway Archers on Google or facebook and send us a mail.

Don't worry about the age mate, I started about 4 months ago and I'm 42.

I'm not so familiar with target archery, as i do field archery myself.

I do know that the average age tends to be 30-50's in field. Maybe the same in target?
Compounders tend to be younger, traditionalists (longbow, etc) tend to be older.

    hope that helps.

    CC.

So far so good, won't win any olympics but I'm having fun. Improving all the time.
