Do you need to submit a copy of your plane ticket when applying for a visa?

If so, is it ok if you only have a singe ticket?

What passport have You got? EU passport holder gets their visa upon arrival in Thailand.

As far as I am aware You MUST have a follow-on ticket. I could be wrong, but I am fairly certain a single ticket won't get You in, indeed I think You may be stopped from boarding the plane to BKK.

That's only if you don't have a Visa beforehand.

If you have a visa, the follow on ticket rule does not apply.
