Hi all, just wondering if by chance someone from this forum might have an idea why these symbols...

...have appeared on the road down from Kinnegad and past my house on out towards Rhode (kinda reminded me of the symbol that the old mod band 'the who' used to use :) (showing my age now!!)

thought at first it might be a fun-run local thing but no one seems to know about it, and then driving up from Dublin today I saw the symbols from Kilcock motorway junction, up to Enfield (around the bypass), and on up to Kinnegad (freshly painted only today or yesterday).

One of the markings at Enfield had '100', so it looks like it might be a road marking for a 100km sportive.
With the Kilcock/Enfield markings now appearing, it seems too far for a walk or run...too far for a tractor-run, and other than either of those, nothing (and I mean NOTHING), ever comes down our road except for local traffic, so I would be quite excited if there was a sportive coming past my house as I would love to join in.
Can't see anything on irishcycling events page to match it up. signs are up for the cycle to the Galway races but they have proper signs and go out the old Galway road from Kinnegad, whereas these arrows take you down by Lagan Cement and on over to Rhode as I mentioned.

Anyone here been out painting the roads recently?

Might be completely non-bike related of course, but I reckon there is something to do with cycling.

    Patrins?
If her husband and their vardo had been refused permission to stop at the arranged place, he'd leave his wife a message in a secret code.

This secret code is called the patrin. It's a system of signs left on the road, which other gypsies will understand.

Not likely, I admit, but I so rarely get to use that word.

The road is going to be taken over by radical feminists, if I read the symbols aright.

Edit: Oh, wait, I don't. By radical masculists.
