Yes, all CDN's use DNS lookups for geo targeting and balancing purposes. You'll just pointlessly cripple a lot of your internet access.
Verizon (Level3) - these are not restricted to Verizon customers
    4.2.2.1
    4.2.2.2
    4.2.2.3
    4.2.2.4
    4.2.2.5
    4.2.2.6
They're nothing to do with Verizon, and are only maintained as a legacy courtesy. They shouldn't be used as a production DNS service.

The fastest dns is nearly always your providers as its internal on their network, as long as it's working ok it's what you should use. There's no point having dns on the other side of the world. I have a decent router that caches dns, makes a nice difference on sites you visit regularly. I also can't live without adblock, pages resolve quicker when you've no ads to lookup and open.

    Check out Namebench

OK, rules that out. Thanks guys.

Anyone know if theirs an added risk to using your own browser instead of the adapted one when using Tor??

Not gonna do Banking or anything like that....just wondering what could person hosting the exit node see exactly?
