Gerard Butler had a close shave at Mavericks while filming this. Its crazy he was even out there at all considering the reputation of the wave so he's nothing if not dedicated! I'll probably go see it just to see the footage of mavericks. It doesn't look very good, I can't see it toppling Big Wednesday or Point Break as the pinnacle of surf movies (:D) but its got to be better than Soul Surfer at least. :pac:

EDIT: Oh yeah, this actually directed by Curtis Hanson although I think they had to bring Michael Apted in for the last 15 days due to health problems or something.
