I'm a taxi driver, bought two diesel avensis from him at different times over the last few years, saved a good bit of money, he drove down and met me in Sligo at the train station. He gave me a warranty but I can't comment on his after sales service as I didn't require it.

Cheers for the reply Corkonion. Thinking about buying a car which has low mileage for it's year. Just afraid of it been clocked!

Well I wouldn't know, but this guy sells a lot of cars, the last one I bought had very high mileage, so he is not afraid to sell cars with high mileage, ask him is there a service history (usually is with uk cars) then contact the garage that was used and they can confirm their recorded mileage for the reg quoted.

I got the Cartell report off of him.

Cartell report is good but not foolproof. I'd do as corkonion advises ... get a copy of the service history from him and ring the servicing garage to make sure their records tally with the service history.

Never, ever, buy a UK car without a service history. 99% have service histories over there, so if the history is gone missing it usually means one thing ...

Worth getting a cartell and motorcheck set of reports aswell as confirming FSH ofc tbh

Hey all, I'm thinking about buying a car off this garage but Id be making a huge trek (4.5hrs) to get there...is there much wiggle room on price tags do you know? I'm on a strict budget.

    Thanks

I bought my current car off him 4 years ago. Was good to deal with, and the car has turned out to be an excellent purchase.

He seems to specialise in UK ex-lease cars.

Does Shane Connolly only deal in donegal? He has some nice cars in his yard in fairness.

He had a car I was interested in buying a few years back. Was going to be travelling up from Limerick but he was willing to come down with the car to meet me in Sligo town. The price he quoted me over the phone was decent enough and he gave me the UK reg and service history details to do background checks on.

The car checked out fine but I ended up buying a car closer to home, however he sounded decent enough from talking to him over the phone. If the other car hadn't worked out I was going to head up to him. I'm sure there would have been some wiggle room in the price.

He used to be in Ballybofey the last time I was thinking of heading up there but I think he has since moved to Letterkenny according to his website.

    It becomes much more Irish . . . :)

It might not be any guarantee, but in general I've always found small businesses that are willing to trade and advertise using their own personal name, and been around a few years, more trustworthy.

He is in both ballybofey and now has a place in letterkenny. I am guessing as his place in ballybofey is off the beaten track a bit. Family members have bought from him before and I was involved with one of the purchases. I would recommend him. There is no BS with him and he was easy to deal with.
