any ideas on this ,seen an isuzu trooper old model 92 ,95 model with big knobs on dash and big mirror on bonnet ,its a jap import 3.1 model ,but it has an 01 d reg ,which would make it a 3.0 model ,should it not have its reg as that of year of manufacture ?

Have a look at the seat belts, there should be a tag with the year of manufacture on them

If its jap it may not have the 3.0 model, for example you could get the 03-10 model landcruiser without the d-4d engine

If its a jap import and its 3.1 with an 01 reg then all that means is it was imported from japan to the UK in 2001, on the tax bok it should also have the year of manufacture. In the uk they re-reg them the year there imported so when imported into ireland then it still has a 01 plate. still means is between 92-98 plate. i had a 2.8 pajero (jap import) with a 03 plate but the jeep was 1993.

Since 1983, all re-registered, grey import or ex-military vehicles have had age related plates in the UK, not date of first registration; there's bound to be a few wrongly declared vehicles floating around though.
