My brother his wife and baby are moving back to Ireland soon and he has asked me to help him look for a car.

He says 7000euro but will pay more for a good deal.
Automatic, diesel and not more than 2 litres (he had notions of 3 litre and over but he could not belive the tax rate).
He would like a soft roader but apart from Santa fe's I cant come up with anything in his buget, so apart from people carriers has anybody got any good suggestion.

That's not always the case given the guys budget you could have any number of things go wrong that would wipe out mpg savings, that's before you get to the premium price for a diesel automatic.

I dont know why he wants a diesel.
He is cooling down a bit after his new baby I think. His last car was a 350z and he hoped to get a Nissan murano here, ( he had one as a company car) he got his buget right near enough but the tax thing blows it out of the water.
