Help needed for vw problem

    Anyone with a vw polo mk2 I think ,or a haynes manual . I need to know where
    this connection on inlet manifold goes to and can I just blank it.

    I could be wrong, but it may go on a connection on the air filter housing

    Definitly not to air filter ,its a water outlet

    It must be a pipe that goes to the carb, it would contain coolant that when heated turns off the automatic choke mate.

    I had a look at my sister's '95 Polo (Mark 2?)
    Difficult to see connections to manifold without removing filter housing - but there are two flexible hoses on the right hand side that then connect to metal pipes. Seems they're related to power steering or brake servo i.e vacuum hoses.

    Have you it assembled, and on the car? Generally I find that a lot of these outlets and "spare" pipes present themselves with the solution when the assembly is back in situ.

    Thanks Most likely option but see new photo of old manifold it does not have the outlet in question. There are 2 seperate rubber pipes to feed choke unit onthe old setup.

    Thanks for your efforts but a 95 Polo is too modern ie is a Mark 3 or 6N2 model. Mark2 is known as 86C Model

    looks like a vacuum line, check brakes, power steering, heater, advance, popup headlights(!) (it is a possibility that nothing attaches there, as it could be standard for many different models)

    Def. not vacuum. Vacuum for brake servo is top right side above the two larger pipe inlets/outlets.

    A bit more info . The newer manifold is from a polo MK 2 model 86c year up to 1990 I think. The older one in 2nd photo is from my car a MK2 golf 1.3 litre. Both the polo and golf used the same 1.3 engine and same carb a pierburg 2E3 with auto choke. The inlet manifold is heated by two methods (1) an electric timed heater known as a hedgehog which sits below the carb. and (2) water heating by the 2 larger pipe connections othe right. The golf has 2 seperate pipes to heat the carb auto choke.

    My guess is that the polo version uses this outlet and another return pipe to heat the carb choke. The only other difference is the threaded inlet top right of the carb mount ,this is for a water temp sender which I dont need as the golf uses a different version.

    What are you trying to do anyway? Are you trying to use the polo manifold with the golf engine?
