They sound like they are calling me from an indian sweatshop factory loads of people in the back-round scamming people, sick of it now.

Any way to block their number from calling me?:mad:

Oh man, I have such great fun with those calls.

If I can't be bothered I just tell them I'll go and get the person their looking for and then leave the phone off the hook, my record is 45 minutes, I had a bath and everything and the guy was still there, they didn't ring back again.

    Well known scam:

Nothing you can do to block them, just hang up without even speaking to them.

My mum loves these guys - lets them chat away and then tells them she doen't have a computer (which she doesn't). One guy called her a lair - I think she was looking to fly to India to hunt him down.

They never call me :( I love winding up inbound callers!

I remember watching a BBC money show - cant remember exactly what it was. They had some guy on form one of the various watchdogs and I laughed so hard I almost shot coffee out my nose.

Official looking guy, professional job on the TV - when asked what his advice was it was "Actually you are better off being as rude as possible"

Some gauntlet thrown down there. I get the impression he'd been wanting to get that off his chest for a while.

Mmm, well known scam, though I think we can say it's not well known enough if they're still doing it.
Sad really, it'd be so easy to wipe them out if the media made a bigger deal of it.

To revive this post, I had "James from Windows Technical Dept" today re imminent attack on my computer. Asked him for his phone no which he gave me twice (different nos!). Did a 1471, his no. is 00212340181. 0021 is Morocco, tho' his accent was Indian sub continent.
    Just be careful out there.

A referees whistle. When they ask you a question speak very very softly, then... "FWEEEEEEEEEE".

Repeat and see who hangs up first.

A guy in the UK was fed up of these calls so he got his number made into a premium rate number and started making money from them. I never get those calls but if I did I'd have a lot of fun.

I got one once. We have only linux in this house. I told him out straight that I thought he was a bad person for trying to scam people. He tried to assure me. I continued telling him that he was a bad person and explained that we had only linux. He hung up.
