Not me, but I would like to add a plus one in interest to this thread as I will most definitely be interested in the future how these things work...

Kegging got discussed on one of the other threads, and these mini-kegs came up.

I have 'kegged' into 5L water containers before and I can say, in principle it has all the advantages of kegging -
    - saves lots of time on brew day
    - you can fridge chill
    - party/picnic portable

The only possible downside of the mini kegs is that they could be hard to clean, and being opaque, you can't see the dirt inside.

They might have a manual on the brewferm site, that could have cleaning advice. I would recommend that you fill the kegs with water as soon after use as possible. Also store them filled with any solution that can inhibit bacterial growth.

Got the mini kegs and they be pouring a great pint and they are very handy as they fit in the fridge. 1st time though, I managed to freeze burn my little finger though while messing around with the CO2 regulator.

I have also heard that you are able to use the brewferm system with Grafenwalder 5lt kegs from lidl (you just need to buy a mini-keg bung).

They seem to cleaning well. Following use I am filling & emptying them twice with hot water and putting a plastic cap on them prior to normal sanitising and refilling. Granted I am using beer from secondary at present so there is little sediment.

If you are finding it difficult to clean inside any container with a small opening you can use a spoonful of rice and warm soapy water. Fill it about a quarter of the way with water and say washing up liquid or a brew cleaner. Add a spoonful of rice. Cover the opening with your hand or bung or a lid if applicable, then proceed to shake the living daylights out of it. Turn it upside down etc whatever way the mood gets you.

The one thing to ensure is that you rinse it a few times afterwards to get any foam etc out. As you want a nice head retention it is very important to do at least 2 - 3 rinses with cold water and don't forget to sanitize before filling with beer. This technique also works on demi johns etc.

Hey, hows it going. Looking to get a couple of mini kegs for a party in the next week. Do you know if Lidl/Aldi/anywhere are stocking them at the moment? do they sell the pump required as well or should I go online to buy one? Will I need to buy CO2 if I'm using a handpump?

    Cheers.
