Hi have a bit of a problem with my Passat 1.6 petrol b5.5.
Since last Monday my ABS and Traction Control light keeps coming on after driving the car for around minute or two and it stay on until I switch of the car.
Car still breaks the same as always no difference in breaking performance.
Does any one have any experience with regarding this kind of problem on this kind of car?

    Regards BoBo

You are probaby going to have to get diagnostics done to determime the error code and fault. There are a number of things that may be wrong as that light covers a number of systems.

Had get diagnostics done for a potential warranty issue cost 70EUR in a VW garage. Any good indy should be able to do the same and most likely for a lot less too.

My issue was lateral accelerator sensor , but my car was a 08 Touran 1.9TDI. This was my thread and details about the other common reason for the warning light - the ABS pump.

My uncle had an octavia with the abs light coming on turned out to be a faulty abs sensor in of the rear breaks. So could be as simple as a sensor. Best thing to do is get a diagnostics done. Just be aware as abs is an electronic system when the light shows on the dash car has no anti lock breaks while the light is on. So probably get it checked soon

Hopefully for the OP it is a simple and cheap sensor. I agree get it checked out, but in my case it was the EPS that was not working while ABS functioned.

....my TT is doing the same, and it turns out its the Yaw sensor that's gone awol......

...iirc, in a Passat it's under the back seat.

My money is on the brake light switch on the pedal. Very same thing happened mine last year. €30 part

Have replaced brake light switch on the pedal already on Thursday because diagnostic showed that's the fault but after few hours ABS and Traction control light came on again.

So today I went back to my mechanic and he scanned the computer again and now it's showing brake pressure sensor fault with code 01435 (G201).

He reckons we ll try and change this sensor on Monday and if that doesn't work unfortunately it s the ABS pump/module that will need to be replaced.

Does anyone know how much does brand new ABS pump/module costs?
